Authors Talking

Booking Through Thursday: Authors Talking

Do you read any author’s blogs? If so, are you looking for information on their next project? On the author personally? Something else?

The only author who's blog I actively follow is Neil Gaiman's. I've added him to my RSS reader and Twitter. Other than that, I usually pop over to visit author's blogs when I remember that they have blogs or feel like it.

I have to admit that I liked Neil Gaiman first as a person, thanks to his blog, before I really read any of his works. It's really interesting to hear his take on the writing process, news reports about him, or the events related to his work, as opposed to reading press releases or interviews.

Mostly, if I do follow a writer's blog, it's pretty much in hopes of getting to know him/her better as a person, maybe even pick up some writing wisdoms that might help me as a fledging writer. They also serve as an inspiration for me. It's also nice to know that someone of their talent and fame are people who are approachable, one way or the other. Getting info about their latest project is just a bonus.

  1. As an aspiring writer, I took look for bits of writing info from author blogs. I don’t go to many, though, and none on a regular basis. I will if I’m looking for info either on their backlist or future work.

  2. I finally got my internet back so I can now reply yay!Hey everyone, thanks for visiting! Sal, I dabble a bit in short fiction, but I rarely get to finish anything more than a chapter’s length. Been joining Nanowrimo since 2004 but haven’t won it yet haha.Hurrah for those who follow Neil! He’s really an amazing person, which is mostly the main reason why I follow his blog.I don’t really like to follow all the authors whose work I enjoy reading, but try to focus on a few who are really my idols.Off to bloghop now. 😀
