BTT: Unread

An idea I got from The Toddled Dredge (via K for Kat). Here’s what she said:

“So here today I present to you an Unread Books Challenge. Give me the list or take a picture of all the books you have stacked on your bedside table, hidden under the bed or standing in your shelf – the books you have not read, but keep meaning to. The books that begin to weigh on your mind. The books that make you cover your ears in conversation and say, ‘No! Don’t give me another book to read! I can’t finish the ones I have!'”

I don’t know if this will make me sound weird or what, but I don’t have a to-be-read pile. When I say TBR, I mean the actual books that I already have and have lined up to read. See, when I buy a book, I immediately read it and finish it in a maximum of three days. When I buy I book, I set aside time to read it. That’s why I can finish more than a hundred books in a year.

I do have a list of books I want to get and read, but since I can get only a book or two at a time, I have enough space in between books to finish them all.

I’m currently reading Nora Robert’s “Black Hills” and Diana Wynne Jones’ “The House of Many Ways”. I’m looking for something to read after I finish them.

  1. You are a very organized person. I could never be like that.I always buy or borrow books I find interesting without counting my time to read it.

  2. I actually tend to forget about everything else when I have a book in my hands hehe. I can't stand seeing an unread book, so I get right into it. 😀

  3. I wish I could do the same! I'm full of good intentions to read a book straight away, but can't always manage it, usually because I haven't finished the ones I've already bought/borrowed.

  4. My TBR list entries fall into one of two categories: books I start and then do not finish but feel I ought to, or books I haven't yet managed to acquire. I wrote about the former.

  5. I sometimes wish I could be like that. But generally I like having lts of books to choose from. I can read smething different then when the mood takes me. It does eansome thingsdon't get read though!

  6. I could never be that controlled. I can't resist the lure of second hand bookshops and libraries. My TBR pile is constantly growing. I do read several books at a time though, so I like to have a selection available for whenever I finish a title. I love to browse through a pile of books and think "hmm. what do I feel like reading?"

  7. Sounds like a good strategy! I have books that accumulate because they look interesting but I have to find the right season to read them.

  8. I wouldn't call it discipline. It's not like I say "Oh, I have to finish this by tomorrow." I guess I just want to, and that I enjoy it. I guess it also has something to do with my lifestyle. It's not hectic, and my other hobbies aren't very demanding so I do have time to finish every book I get my hands on.Plus, I only get books that I truly want to read, so it helps. 🙂

  9. Hi!I try to do the same thing, but most of the time it doesn't work out that way! LOL Have a great day!Sherriehttp://sherriesbooks.blogspot.com/2009/07/booking-through-thursday.html

  10. I used to be able to do that. I'd have maybe 2-3 books to read at any time and usually only if i didn't have a library book to read instead.

  11. I'm the same way. I have a few books on my shelf that I haven't read, but that's because I've bought or received them, read a few pages, and put them back to never finish. I don't actually WANT to read them. If I buy a book worth reading, I read it instantly.Jess (jessecreations.wordpress.com)
