BTT: Coming Soon To A Theater Near You

Today’s BTT question is:

If you could see one book turned into the perfect movie–one that would capture everything you love, the characters, the look, the feel, the story–what book would you choose?

Off the top of my head, I would say it’s Jostein Gaarder’s “The Solitaire Mystery”. I think it’s got the right amount of adventure and whimsey that would appeal to a lot of people. Plus, it’s a story within a story (which is something we’ve seen in recent movies like Inception and Sucker Punch).

Personally, I think it would look great as an animated film, a la Hayao Miyazaki. Then again, if it were something like Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland it would also work.

    1. Hi Laurel! I’m not sure if this book’s known really, although if you’ve heard of “Sophie’s World” it’s the same author. 🙂 Thanks for visiting!

  1. I haven’t heard of this book but because I know it’s so hard to choose one for this answer then it must be good. I’m running to look it up (and probably add it to my TBR) right now! 🙂

    1. Hi Lisa! I love your answer. I agree that often it’s hard to imagine a movie of my favorite book because I’ve got such strong ideas for it. I either end up becoming disappointed if it doesn’t match my imagination. 🙂 Thanks for visiting!

  2. The Solitaire Mystery is my very favourite book! I have thought about how it would look on the screen, and in what form, but I just can’t picture it. I think it’s because I’m so attached to it, I don’t want to see anyone else’s interpretation of it. 🙂

    1. Hilde, that’s how I usually feel about something. Although if Hayao Miyazaki gave it a try, I might not be so worried. 🙂

  3. Hi Kat, I have never heard of this book, although I am not a reader. I’ll ask Zee if she knows about it.

A few weeks ago, we went to a book convention (only the last day) here in one of the hotels, and I got to meet a lot of authors, mostly romance. So interested to see readers with their loads of books to be signed.

    1. It’s always been in my dream list to attend a writer’s convention and meet some authors. Locally, I’ve done that but it would also be nice to attend one there. 🙂

I hope you’ll find the book interesting! I got confused the first time I read it, but it gets more fun as you go along. 🙂
