BTT: Gluttony

Booking Through Thursday

Book Gluttony! Are your eyes bigger than your book belly? Do you have a habit of buying up books far quicker than you could possibly read them? Have you had to curb your book buying habits until you can catch up with yourself? Or are you a controlled buyer, only purchasing books when you have run out of things to read?

If it’s possible to be somewhere in between, that’s where you can place me. 🙂

See, I love to read, and if I can get my hands on every book I wanted to read, I would. But there’s the hurdles of 1) finances and 2) availability of said books. The time to read them is not a problem. I don’t really have a stack of unread books at home because as soon as as I get a book, I sit down and read it.

Now, I do get carried away when buying books. When I have the budget, I head over to my favorite places to see what they have. I often end up grabbing every book that I like (either because the author is a favorite, or that I find the story interesting), I have to take some time and decide which ones I truly want to get. So in a way, I’m an “impulsive serial buyer who has a control streak”… if that makes sense haha.

Which reminds me, I have some books I need to buy.

  1. You are lucky that reading time is not a problem. If I get even 2 hours per day I would be really happy. I totally understand your “impulsive serial buyer who has a control streak” thing. I do that too 🙂

  2. I always want to read a book as soon as I’ve bought it, but usually I’m already reading something else so it rarely happens! You’re lucky to have the time.

  3. I’m slowly reforming myself. I will always buy books but now I’m being much wiser about it, for the same reasons you’ve stated. My answer is here.

  4. I am the same way, but instead of buying I borrow from the local library. I always borrow too many though and always have to bring back books that I haven’t read. But I keep them on my TBR list with the hope that I will borrow it again or break down and buy it!

  5. My library has really helped curb the buying habit. I just have this habit of reserving too many books at the library and not having enough time to read them all before they need to go back.

  6. Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting! Some of you are lucky that you have libraries where you can borrow books from. Libraries here are rare, often found in schools and private institutions. Though I don’t have a TBR, I do have a wishlist of books that I want. Also, given the difficulty of getting books that I want, I usually end up getting ebooks and if I really like the story, I buy the actual book. 🙂
